How does microneedling actually work?

In order to understand how microneedling treatment works you need to understand how and why the skin produces collagen. The reason why our skin tends to lose its resilience and become thinner as we age is inherently linked to the reduced levels of collagen and elastin in the skin as we get older. Collagen is the key to the regenerative properties of the skin – our skin has an incredible ability to heal itself. When our skin is damaged, we produce collagen to regenerate and repair the damage. Microneedling aims to enhance collagen production to improve the overall and inherent health of the skin.

As the Dermaroller, with its tiny needles, penetrates the skin and causes tiny openings in the skin to mimic wounds or skin damage. Don’t worry, this process is in no way harmful to the skin, in fact it mimics real damage and stimulates the production of collagen as our skin goes about repairing the tiny openings made by the Dermaroller. What the Dermaroller does in simple terms is to trick the skin in creating collagen and new skin cells, which as we know are heavily linked to healthier and younger looking skin.

What are the immediate effects of Collagen Induction Therapy?

What is commonly experienced, is slight redness and in extreme cases light swelling on the day of the treatment. However, don’t worry. You can easily mask these side effects using makeup or tinted sunscreen.
